Hello.
I am Satyaki Banik, a passionate power systems engineer based in Troy, New York. I completed my graduate studies at the Department of ECE, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA (Go Pack!), where I also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the FREEDM Systems Center. I obtained my B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic (EEE) Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2021. Prior to joining NC State, I served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of EEE, BUET (alma mater).
At NYISO, I support the integration of new generation and transmission projects into New York’s power grid, contributing to clean energy goals while ensuring system reliability. My work involves power system planning and studies using tools such as PSSE, ASPEN OneLiner, and PowerGEM TARA, along with Python for automation and analysis.
My research and professional interests lie in planning, operation, and control of electrical power systems, especially with high penetration of DERs. My long-term goal is to build a research-driven career in power and energy systems, with multidisciplinary collaborations to address challenges in clean energy and sustainability (focusing on SDGs 7, 11 & 13).
Apart from academics and professional work, I actively engage in volunteering and various extracurricular activities. Feel free to explore my website to know more.
